Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include conducting original and focused field work involving collection and natural history research for the purpose of enhancing the scientific and educational merit of the Museum's entomological programs. Also provides assistance to Divisions of Education and Exhibits for the maintenance and development of public programs and exhibitions.
Research Interests:
- Systematics of crane flies, the Tipuloidea (Diptera: Nematocera).
- Field-oriented studies on natural history of Tipulidae, including larval morphology,
  ontogeny, ecology and habitat relations, faunistic studies.
- Systematic and evolutionary studies,& including historical biogeography.
- Systematics and natural history of Neotropical Lymantriidae (Lepidoptera: Noctuoidea).
Current Research Projects:
- Revisionary treatment of the crane fly genus Dapanoptera of Australian-Oceanian regions.
- Revision of crane fly genus Megistomastix in Hispaniola.
- Systematics and biogeography of Tipulidae (crane flies) in the Caribbean region.
- Flightless crane flies in the Ecuadoran Andes.
- Immature stages of Microtipula, Eumicrotipula, Zelandotipula, Bellardina in Tipulinae.
- Survey of the Tipulidae of Powdermill Natural Reserve, and the state of Pennsylvania(with   J.K. Gelhaus).
- Fauna of Tipulidae in Kyrgyzstan and in China (with D. Yang).
- Revision of Neotropical gypsy moths (Lymantriidae) in the genera Sarsina and Staetherinia   (with J.E. Rawlins).
- Synoptic work on the macrolepidopterous larvae of Taiwan and eastern North America   (with J.E. Rawlins).
