Creating a ZIP Archive File

IT Help Central.

Note:  These instructions assume that you have the WinZip program
installed on your computer (http://www.winzip.com/).  There is a fully
function free evaluation version available for download.

Illustrated Instructions

After clicking the WinZip icon to open the program, you may see the following
screen.  Just click the "Use Evaluation Version" button.

Step 1:  After opening the WinZip program in "Classic" mode, the following window
appears. In this window, you can create ZIP archives by clicking the 'New' icon.

The following window appears prompting you to name the new ZIP archive
file and to specify the location of the new file.

Step 2:  In this case, we'll choose the Desktop as the location and
name the file "Crayfish_News_JohnDoe".  Now click the "Ok" button.

Once you specify the name and location of the new ZIP archive file,
you can specify the files to include in the ZIP file. Navigate to the
folder that contains your files, select them and click the "Add" button.

Step 3:  The selected files will automatically be included in the new ZIP archive
entitled Crayfish_News_JohnDoe.zip.

Step 4:  Once you have all of the files included, just close the archive
(Shift+L) and it's ready to be sent as an e-mail attachment or uploaded
to the web site. When the archive is closed, the application stays open.
To close the application, just choose Exit from the File menu. Note that
the name of the file includes the .zip extension. It's automatically added
when we created the new ZIP file.

When the new ZIP file is closed, the process is complete
and it is ready to be sent through e-mail as an attachment.
