Please send in any crayfish-related newsworthy items. In particular, we are looking for short research articles, crayfish-related news from your area, meeting announcements, meeting summaries, new book announcements, recent crayfish literature and/or bibliographies [plus PDF files, if you have them], photos, or any other items that may be of interest to members of the society. For more information on how to submit an article to Crayfish News, see below.

Submitting Articles to Crayfish News:

Wondering how you can submit an article or other information to Crayfish News?

Follow the steps below:

There is usually an announcement sent out to members via e-mail that gives a deadline
for submissions.  This usually gives members about 1 month to get materials together
and submitted.  Authors can submit their articles in several different ways.

1) by e-mail to the editor,
(for lager, multi-megabyte files, please use the online upload tool).

OR

2) by uploading files directly to the IAA website (see below for details).

Submission Checklist:

1) Please submit your files as ZIP or RAR archives, especially if you have multiple files (documents + images, etc.).
This will allow us to keep all of your files together and greatly minimize errors on our part when
trying to sort out what files go with what article.  If you are unsure how to do this, please click here
    or contact the editor.

2) Please name the zip archive something like "Crayfish_News_YourLastNameHere.zip"  Please use
underscores (_) to separate items in file names (rather than spaces or dashes, '-'), as this greatly helps in
    successfully transferring files electronically.

3) Please submit photos and images separately (not inserted inside Word documents).
Photos should be high-resolution color copies and should be in jpeg (.jpg) format.

4) Please include table, photo, and image captions (including the name of the photographer and any
copyright info, etc., if applicable) at the end of your document (also, please list the appropriate image
file name associated with each caption).  It is really nice to get photos along with articles, but when
we have no idea what is contained in the photo, or who people are, it makes them less interesting.
If you submit photos of crayfish please include the species name, and the location from which it was
obtained, and any other information you think would be of interest to other members.

5) Please include PDF files of your own published papers (and others, if you have them) when submitting
any literature references or bibliography lists, as this will allow us to directly link to these files via the
newsletter and further help disseminate your own research to interested colleagues.  These files can all be
included with your other documents in the submitted Zip file.

6) Contact information  -- Please include your name and contact information with your article/submission.
At a minimum, this should be your e-mail address and institution. This will give IAA members interested
in your research the ability to contact you.  Also include a personal web address as well, if you have one.

How to Upload Files to the IAA Website:

1) You must first login to the members-only area of the website.

2) Click the "Upload Files" link on the left hand side of the home page in the Members link box.

3) On the screen that appears, click the "Browse" button and select your ZIP archive file.

4) Then click the Upload button.  It may take a few minutes for the file to upload,
depending on the size of the file.

5) Once your file uploads, the page will refresh and you should see the file listed lower on the page.

6) To upload another file, click the "Browse" button again and then the "Upload" button.  If you are finished
uploading files, click the "Finish" button.

Once we have the issue ready, it will be posted to the website in the members area and a notice will be sent to members via e-mail.

PLEASE NOTE:  The editor may modify content and/or wording for submissions from members from non-English speaking countries in order to make submissions easily readable for everyone.  Any changes made will be kept to a minimum and will only made where appropriate.
