Welcome to the IAA Manuscript Submission & Tracking System

The editors and editorial board of Freshwater Crayfish are pleased to announce the first call for papers for volume 18 of Freshwater Crayfish.

  1. Submission of manuscripts is open to ALL (including those that did not attend the IAA18 meeting) as long as papers are crayfish-related.

  2.  The deadline for submissions will be December 3, 2010.

  3.  Page charges may be levied (e.g., for color figures, etc.).

The MS&T System has a comprehensive Users Guide section, including Instructions to Authors and a Website User Guide for Authors. The main objective of Freshwater Crayfish is to publish the highest quality papers on crayfish in a timely fashion, and the Freshwater Crayfish 18 editorial and production team are dedicated to publishing this volume by September 1, 2011.

In order to facilitate timely processing of manuscripts and to meet publication deadlines, Freshwater Crayfish has implemented new strict quality control procedures for all manuscripts that are submitted for consideration. After submission, all manuscripts will be briefly evaluated by the managing/quality control editor for scientific quality, and closely assessed to determine if the Freshwater Crayfish instructions to authors and stylistic guidelines have been followed. Any manuscript that does not follow the Freshwater Crayfish instructions to authors (i.e., meet the minimum standards of quality including; language, spelling, formatting, referencing and quality of figures) will be returned to authors immediately for correction. Any manuscript that is returned for correction may be resubmitted for re-evaluation by the managing/ quality control editor. Under no circumstances will substandard manuscripts be sent out for review.

A manuscript pre-submission checklist of common problems has been prepared to assist authors in the preparation and submission of high quality and correctly formatted manuscripts. Authors are encouraged to use the checklist, as failure to “tick all the boxes” will result in manuscripts being returned for correction. The pre-submission checklist is available via a link at the top of this page.

Pre-Review Statement to Reviewers: Freshwater Crayfish has adopted a strict pre-submission policy and quality control measures to insure that reviewers will only be asked to review manuscripts that have met those standards. Please do not accept to become a reviewer if you are unable to complete the review, or expect significant delays. Reviewers will have to access manuscripts through the IAA MS&T website, and a Guide for Reviewers is available to help reviewers navigate the website and aid in file transfers. Note: files sent to reviewers are in PDF format, so reviewers will need to have a copy of Adobe Acrobat Standard or Professional (or similar software) in order to use the commenting features available in that software to complete thier electronic reviews. If this is not possible, please contact the Editor to make other arrangements.
